Lumens (EQD Plumes mod)

Our Lumens mod expands Earthquaker Device’s modern classic into a two-channel dirt box that takes everything you loved about the Plumes and shines it in a new light.

• UNLESS YOU SELECT PRE-MODDED PEDAL then this is for the mod service only. This purchase does not include the pedal itself! You can ship us your pedal at the address below.  
• Turnaround time is approximately 2 weeks from when we receive your unit to when we ship it back out.

About the mod

Lumens consists of two parts:

Lumens Boost - We’ve added a boost channel before the Plumes circuit to push your tone even further. This is an independently switchable circuit that can be stacked with Plumes or used on its own. It’s not a “clean” boost in a traditional sense, but rather a low-gain drive that is highly responsive to your playing – dirtying up when you dig in – while always retaining crystalline clarity and articulation. Its circuit is based on a legendary and luminous transparent overdrive, tuned to be the perfect compliment to Plumes’ aggressive and mid-focused sound.

• A Volume knob is added to the face of the pedal to control the level of the boost. At maximum it gets reallllly loud.
• A Tone control is added on an internal trimmer. The mod ships in an in-house favorite position, but this option lets you tweak to your hearts desire.
• The right-side footswitch activates/bypasses the Lumens Boost. The left-side footswitch activates/bypasses Plumes. The amp jewel in the center encapsulates a green LED to indicate the status of the Lumens Boost, and the original yellow LED to indicate the status of Plumes.

Lumens Low Contour - A toggle switch on the side expands the low end capabilities of the Plumes, allowing you to choose between two modes.

• Stock EQD - In the down position you have the original, entirely unaffected, low end response of the pedal, giving you the Plumes’ original tone stack.
• Cosmodio Contour - In the up position you have our new low end voicing that allows a more broad range of frequencies into Plumes. It’s a full, rich sound that widens your tonal capabilities. Try it on bass!

The Plumes is already a flawless take on a greens creamer that found a permanent home on thousands of pedal boards across the world, including some of ours here at Cosmodio. This mod is a celebration of this fantastic pedal, and delivers some of the favorite sounds we’ve discovered through years of playing with Plumes.

Both of Lumens’ “Boost” and “Low Contour” mods are available a la carte, or together in our “Complete” option.

More about the Plumes from Earthquaker Devices:

Plumes is an overdrive based around that classically overdone tube-like circuit you all know, and amps crave. While this particular circuit has been done to death, we here at EarthQuaker Devices brand of special effects pedals think the Plumes offers an original take on the old, tired dead horse everyone loves to beat on. You can’t get enough of it, so we are giving you some more. Doctor’s orders and what not…

For starters, we’ve done away with the sacred 4558 IC and the classic BJT transistor buffers and replaced them with JFET operational amplifiers and raised the input impedance to nearly 10 megaohms! This offers lower noise, better signal integrity and more chime in the high end. We power this OpAmp by taking the 9v input and internally converting it to +/- 9v to give it more headroom. The end result is a more three-dimensional tone with added clarity that really pushes a nice tube amp over the edge. You might notice how those badass leads you’re always ripping will blast over those awful, no good cymbals your drummer is constantly bashing around on. It sounds like diamonds … a million f**king diamonds!
