About the mod
Boost - We’ve added a boost channel before the Blumes circuit to push your tone even further. This is an independently switchable circuit that can be stacked with Blumes or used on its own. It’s not a “clean” boost in a traditional sense, but rather a low-gain drive that is highly responsive to your playing – dirtying up when you dig in – while always retaining crystalline clarity and articulation. Its circuit is based on a legendary and luminous transparent overdrive, tuned to be the perfect compliment to Blumes’ aggressive and mid-focused sound.
- A Volume knob is added to the face of the pedal to control the level of the boost. At maximum it gets reallllly loud.
- A Tone control is added on an internal trimmer. The mod ships in an in-house favorite position chosen specifically to compliment bass guitars and Blumes' voicing of the circuit, but this option lets you tweak to your hearts desire.
- The right-side footswitch activates/bypasses the Boost. The left-side footswitch activates/bypasses Blumes. The amp jewel in the center encapsulates a yellow LED to indicate the status of the Boost, and the original green LED to indicate the status of Blumes.
Presence Contour - A toggle switch is added next to the Tone knob which smooths the highest frequencies. This is distinct from the contour mod applied to Plumes in our Lumens mod, and is a unique design to compliment Blumes. You have two modes.
- Stock EQD - In the left position you have the original, entirely unaffected response of the pedal, giving you the Blumes’ original tone stack.
- Cosmodio Contour - In the right position you have our new "smooth" voicing that tames the brightest frequencies, allowing the Tone knob to push punchy mids without introducing harshness. Perfect for a DI'd bass!
Clean Blend - Our "DELUXE" version of the mod gives you the option to add a Clean Blend control to the BLUMES circuit. Fully CCW is 100% clean. Fully CW is 100% dirty. When the Boost is active in front of Blumes this lets you blend between the raw Boost and the boosted Blumes voice for textured parallel drive tones.
The Blumes is already a flawless bass-forward adaptation of a greens creamer that found a permanent home on thousands of pedal boards across the world, including some of ours here at Cosmodio. This mod is a celebration of this fantastic pedal, and delivers some of the favorite sounds we’ve discovered through years of playing with Blumes.

More about the Plumes from Earthquaker Devices:
Blumes is an all-analog tri-mode soft clipping bass overdrive that carries the torch of the classic screamer circuit but has a voice all its own. While embodying most of the characteristics and features of our beloved Plumes® Small Signal Shredder, this modified circuit has double the gain and a deeper bass response to retain all the low end. It utilizes internal bipolar power, which gives you more dynamics and all the headroom you could ever desire. The end result is a three-dimensional tone with added clarity that really pushes a nice tube amp over the edge.
Cosmodio Instruments is in no way affiliated with Earthquaker Devices… but we think they’re really great.
