About the mod

Our Barrows Marrow mod expands the already fantastic Earthquaker Devices Barrows Fuzz Attacker into a gnarly shape-shifting fuzz for the ages. 

Two discrete recessed controls are added to the side of the pedal enclosure:

- The first adjusts BIAS. Turn this screwdriver adjustable knob most of the way up for stock EQD biasing, all of the way up for a bit of overbiasing and spacious dynamics, but the real magic comes when you turn the biasing down. First you find more compression, then the fuzz starts gating, keep turning it down for ripping velcro tones and eventually spitty splatty bias starved germanium chaos.

- The second control is a MODE switch. Turn it to the right for the stock EQD MK2 voice. Flip it to the left for the Marrows MK1.5 voice in which one of the three transistor gain stages is bypassed, resulting in a two-transistor fuzz topology that reflects that of a vintage MK1.5 as well as its familiar fuzzy-faced cousin. It’s a whole new pedal hidden in there! One with iconic fuzz tones ranging from punchy to mellow and which cleans up with reduced instrument volume to create a highly charismatic germanium overdrive.

The Earthquaker Barrows is already a perfect thing, with a massive and gorgeous voicing of one of the most sought after fuzz sounds of all time. By setting each of our mod controls to its stock position you can still achieve 100% of the unmodified EQD Barrows sounds.
