Our “2 Dumble 2 Dumbler” mod to JHS’s NOTADUMBLE V2 takes the latest iteration of the NOTADUMBLE lineage and expands it into the most broadly featured and sonically powerful pedal of its kind. It features a dramatically increased range of sounds on the overdrive channel, new tonal control over the clean channel, as well as a more useable FX loop.
**PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:**
- UNLESS YOU SELECT PRE-MODDED PEDAL then this is for the mod service only. This purchase does not include the pedal itself! You can ship us your pedal at the address below.
- Turnaround time is approximately 2 weeks from when we receive your unit to when we ship it back out.
If you have any questions at all, please send us a message via our CONTACT page. We try to respond to all inquiries promptly!
About the mod
First, we increased the creative range and tonal flexibility of the overdrive channel. There is a new rotary switch to select between three voicings of the OD:
- Stock: JHS’s unmodified zen-inducing D-style overdrive.
- Cosmodio OD: Bigger, louder, edgier, and supremely interactive. We embellish three critical positions within the circuit to emphasize the asymmetric waveshaping that gives the original its iconic and tubelike character, while also pushing it much harder with more gain and additional stages of clipping.
- Cosmodio Germanium OD: Same as the above, but with NOS Ge clipping diodes. Goes from an organic and lively overdrive to fully crushed, crumbling, blown out wall of fuzz and distortion.
Next we looked at the new-for-V2 clean channel, a recreation of Dumble’s fabled “A Box Later” buffered FX loop and boost. Its two clean volume knobs, "Output" and "Input," were designed to set the loop's send and return levels independently. In practice, though, we found that when you're running the channel as a boost, and often even with the loop, one volume is doing all the real work, which leaves the "Output" knob with room to do something more useful. So we gave it a job. An internal switch lets you keep the stock behavior, or rewire "Output" into a body control that rolls off low end as you dial it back. "Input" stays your boost/volume with the full stock range of amplification, letting you shape the boost from full-spectrum, to tight and punchy, to a bright treble booster, and everything in between.
Lastly we provide two separate standard ¼” TS jacks for the FX loop send and return, replacing the stock shared TRS jack. No need for any special Y-cable splitters. Use the fx loop and connect to other pedals and gear with your regular cables as you would with any other pedal, and just like Dumble had provided on the rare original “A Box Later”.

More about NOTADUMBLE V2 from JHS Pedals:
We're proud to present the NOTADÜMBLË V2 — the two-channel DIY Dumble kit pedal you asked us to build. The V1 accidentally had the wrong boost circuit. The V2 fixes that and gives several more new features. We added a second footswitch, an effects loop, an order toggle, and moved the Presence trim pot to the face of the pedal. Every change here came from your suggestions!
Cosmodio Instruments is in no way affiliated with JHS Pedals or Dumble Amplifiers... but we think they're pretty great!
